National Architectural Arts Center
All of the goals of the National Architectural Arts Center stem from the conservation of the architectural artifact collection and the library. Without the preservation of vital parts of our country’s legacy, none of the other elements of the vision could occur. It is our goal through the conservation of these objects to become the national repository for significant architectural items that would otherwise be discarded, destroyed, modified or used totally out of context to their true historical legacy. Equally important, the conservation laboratory will be a pivotal resource for providing architects, contractors, trades people, and preservationists hands-on opportunity to study and to work with materials in order to improve the general level of expertise critical to caring for and preserving buildings in the existing urban landscape. The conservation of these artifacts will vary depending upon the condition and nature of the material. Ornamental bricks obviously need little care while more delicate plaster, glass, and veneered artifacts require substantial conservation. |
